We Are Not Anonymous
Every person who writes, tests, and reviews content on CreditCardCasinos.ca is identified below with their real name, role, and relevant background. We believe anonymous casino reviews are worth exactly what they cost β nothing. If we won’t put our names behind our research, why should you trust it?
James Mackay β Editor-in-Chief
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Role: Oversees all editorial policy, final rankings, and publication decisions
Background: 15 years covering Canadian gambling regulation and online payments
James founded CreditCardCasinos.ca in March 2019 after years of contributing to Canadian Gaming Business Magazine. His frustration with the casino review industry β where sites routinely recommend casinos based on commission rates rather than player experience β drove him to build a research-first alternative.
As Editor-in-Chief, James has final authority on all rankings. He reviews every casino evaluation before publication, ensures editorial standards are maintained, and makes the final call on difficult ranking decisions. He personally writes the editorial notes on each casino card and the changelog entries that document every ranking change.
James doesn’t conduct the deposit testing himself (that’s Raj’s domain) or the T&C analysis (that’s Karen’s), but he synthesises all inputs into the final rankings and editorial commentary. He believes that transparent methodology and published scoring weights are the minimum standard for any site that recommends where people should put their money.
Sophie Laroche β Lead Casino Reviewer
Location: MontrΓ©al, Quebec
Role: Tests game libraries, live dealer quality, mobile performance, and responsible gambling tools
Background: Former casino floor supervisor and recreational poker player
Sophie brings a perspective that most online casino reviewers lack: she’s actually worked on a casino floor. Her experience as a floor supervisor at a land-based casino in Quebec gives her an intuitive understanding of game quality, fair dealing, and what responsible gambling practices look like in practice β not just in policy documents.
Sophie’s primary responsibilities include the responsible gambling tools audit (Step 4 in our methodology). She logs into every casino under evaluation, navigates the account settings, and tests every RG tool: deposit limits, session reminders, cooling-off periods, and self-exclusion. Her “2-click rule” β all RG tools must be accessible within 2 clicks from the main account page β is the standard that Rizk Casino failed.
She also evaluates game libraries (slot variety, live dealer quality, software providers), mobile experience (responsive design, app quality, load times), and general UX. As a recreational poker player, she pays particular attention to poker room quality at sites like 888 Casino that offer integrated poker.
Raj Thakur β Payments Specialist
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia
Role: Conducts all deposit/withdrawal testing and maintains the bank acceptance rate database
Background: Fintech and payments processing
Raj is the person who actually deposits real money at 34 casinos every month. His fintech background gives him deep knowledge of payment processing chains, MCC codes, acquiring relationships, and why certain banks block certain transactions. When we explain how casino transactions work, that explanation is built on Raj’s technical expertise.
Raj holds active bank accounts at all 9 institutions in our test panel: TD Bank, RBC, BMO, CIBC, Scotiabank, National Bank, Desjardins, and 2 credit unions. Every month, he conducts real deposit tests from each account at every casino under evaluation. He records success/failure, processing time, decline codes, cash advance coding, and any anomalies.
He also handles withdrawal tracking (Step 3) β requesting withdrawals and documenting every step from request to funds received. The bank acceptance data tables, cash advance rate comparisons, and the interactive bank checker tool are all maintained from Raj’s testing data.
Raj spent $2,400 in real test deposits during the February 2025 cycle alone. This isn’t cheap research, but it’s the only way to produce data we trust.
Karen Webb β Regulatory & Compliance
Location: Ottawa, Ontario
Role: Licence verification, regulatory monitoring, T&C analysis, and fact-checking
Background: Regulatory compliance
Karen is our fact-checker and regulatory watchdog. Every licence number on the site has been verified by Karen against the issuing regulator’s live public database. Every factual claim about bank policies, legal frameworks, or regulatory requirements has been reviewed by Karen before publication.
Her specific responsibilities include:
- Licence verification (Step 1): Checking every casino’s licence against MGA, UKGC, Kahnawake, iGO, and Gibraltar public registers
- T&C analysis (Step 5): Reading full terms and conditions for withdrawal limits, bonus restrictions, wagering requirements, and player-unfriendly clauses
- AGCO monitoring: Tracking updates to iGaming Ontario’s Registrar’s Standards and registered operator list
- Fact-checking: Reviewing all regulatory claims across the site before publication
- Source maintenance: Keeping our Sources & Data page current with verified links and access dates
Karen’s Ottawa location is strategic β proximity to federal regulators and access to policy developments as they happen. She identified the CIBC cardholder agreement change (January 2025 revision removing gambling restrictions) that updated our bank acceptance data.
